What it Means To Be a Magnolia Rose Volunteer

  • Basic training includes but it is not limited to online modules and volunteering in-person with a more experienced volunteer. Modules will include training on the signs of human trafficking, the rights and laws affecting victims, and topics concerning volunteers such as trauma informed care and confidentiality. 

  • Advanced training includes but is not limited to online modules, shadowing volunteer service providers, conducting client intake, and  assisting victims with their recovery in the hospital or in another safe environment. Modules include training on victims’ rights, conflict management and negotiation, problem solving, mental health issues, substance use issues, domestic violence and more. Advanced training is required for any volunteers to have any contact with our survivors. 

  • Magnolia Rose does two background checks but it does not automatically disqualify a potential volunteer based on what we find. Full disclosure and honesty from the outset is encouraged because it benefits our ongoing relationship with you, the volunteer. Those with a criminal record are still encouraged to apply and there will be an opportunity to discuss any potential findings confidentially and discreetly with our Volunteer Coordinator. We have volunteers of all backgrounds.

  • Direct Service Advocate: work directly with victims of human trafficking, helping them detox and gain access to victim services. Those with a background in psychology, nursing, the court system, or nursing are encouraged to apply but those with soft skills such as active listening, empathy, research skills and empathy are welcome to apply as well. 

  • Retail Sales Associate: works directly with the public to raise awareness of Magnolia Rose’s mission and make sales that directly contribute to the organization and its store vendors. Those with a background in customer service and a passion for our mission are encouraged to apply. 

  • Fundraising Support: this role involves assisting with the planning, execution and promotion of fundraising events to support our organization’s mission. Those who enjoy event planning and working with the public are encouraged to apply. 

  • Outreach Support: outreach volunteers will assist the coordinator with attending and setting up events throughout our servicing area. 

  • Translators: will work directly with victims of human trafficking, law enforcement, Magnolia Rose direct service volunteers, and medical personnel. As a result of the sensitive and personal nature of this position, preferred skills and experience include excellent communication skills, empathy, knowledge of one or more foreign languages including Spanish, French and/or Chinese, etc.

  • Fundraising Coordinator: will plan and execute fundraising events and strive to build strong relationships with donors and sponsors. Those with a background or interest in fundraising and event planning are encouraged to apply. 

  • Donor Relations Coordinator: if you have an interest in building and sustaining strong, long-term relationships with  individual donors and corporate sponsors on behalf of Magnolia Rose, we encourage you to consider applying to this position.

  • Donor Relations Support: this volunteer seeks out and maintains current and potential donors relationships to include maintaining donor databases and sending out appreciation notes. Please apply if you have a passion for combating human trafficking and wish to garner more support for our non-profit. 

  • Senior Grant Writer: the primary task of this volunteer will be to identify, research, and apply for funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Those with previous experience with grant writing are welcome to apply. 

  • Grant Writers: volunteers will assist the senior grant writer in researching and compiling information for the grants. Although we would prefer previous experience with grant writing we welcome those with a passion for our mission that are detail oriented and  enjoy research to apply for this position. 

  • Outreach Coordinator: you can be very helpful to Magnolia Rose by responding to and organizing requests for our attendance at events.

  • Newsletter Editor: will gather information from all areas of the organization to prepare periodic newsletters for donors/supporters and volunteers. Those with previous experience writing or writing newsletters are encouraged to apply. 

  • Volunteer Coordinators: will work as a group to recruit and oversee volunteers including  background checks, training in organizational training, maintaining volunteer data, maintaining communication with volunteers and board members and ensuring that volunteers feel supported and valued.
